I am so excited to share Shawna and Thomas’s wedding with you today! It was one of those rare super sunny and warm late summer days that just added to the anticipation of their celebration. I made the journey from Seattle over to the quaint waterfront property on the edge of Poulsbo called Lemolo Point. A few generations of Thomas’s family have spent countless summers (and winters too!) on this property and it’s a deep part of the fabric of his childhood memories. The importance of their wedding day was punctuated with 3 generations of their family in attendance, along with also knowing that Shawna and Thomas would continue to spend their time there in that very place for future years to come.

As Shawna was getting ready and dressed, she assembled her bridesmaids at the foot of her bed. Each friend stood and looked at Shawna with happiness, excitement and anticipation for what she was about to say. Directed to each bridesmaid, Shawna thoughtfully shared exactly why they were there with her today – how their friendship started and why their friendship meant so much to her. Each person smiled at her sincerely, as though to fight back the tears that were welling up in their eyes. They would embrace as Shawna presented to them the individual gifts she had carefully selected to honor each relationship there today. This moment kicked off the beautiful and meaningful wedding day celebration, that started with an intimate ceremony with family only and followed with an outdoor dinner reception joined by their closest friends.

 

Shawna and Thomas – Thank you so much for inviting me into your wedding day, as one of the few people in addition to your family to witness your wedding vows. Through our time together during your engagement session at Green Lake in Seattle to your intimate wedding at Lemolo Point, it’s so clear to me the deep love you two share and what a gift that it to celebrate with your closest friends and family in a place that’s so special to you both. Here is to your future as husband and wife and to making more memories together.
