Kirstin and Derek’s Heronswood Garden Wedding is just oh so beautiful! Much of their love story involved them spending time together outside, hiking and enjoying the Pacific Northwest. They choose Heronswood because you just felt like you were in this special hidden haven away from the hustle and bustle of Seattle. It was the perfect location for their intimate wedding.
Kirstin and Derek share such a beautiful love. I always tell couples that there are really no rules when it comes to weddings, and I loved that they personalized their wedding day. Their ceremony was really personal to them. First, they decided that they would walk each other into the ceremony – to start the ceremony being together. Second, because it was such an intimate wedding, they had all their friends and guest bless the ring by passing it around during the ceremony. Everyone closed their eyes and passed on their wishes onto their rings. Lastly, they commemorated a box of things that are special to them. It includes rocks that they’ve collected on their hikes, written notes, and, of course, a bottle of wine.
Truth time. I love when there is a reception dress! I mean, what’s not to love about a wardrobe change. It’s like Oscar night when the host appears in a new gown after commercial break. I’m biased, because I also had a reception dress myself on my wedding day. Kirstin went non-traditional and picked a gorgeous blue and white printed dress – such style!
Also, my favorite part of their wedding day were the toasts. I mean, their family and friends have so much love for these two lovebirds! Derek’s brother and Kirstin’s sister gave them a toast – it was filled with tender messages of their love story and they brought us all to tears.
I highly recommend that you take sunset photos on your wedding day! The light is so on point this day. It’s later in the evening when everyone is so much more relaxed! As you can see from Kirstin and Derek’s faces, they were so at ease, having the ceremony over and enjoying this important day with their friends and family. Enjoy these portraits! These portraits are my favorite of the day!
Thanks to all the vendors for making this wedding amazing!
