When I first met Kenzie and Andrew in a coffee shop on rainy afternoon to talk about their love story, I knew it was something special. They both had twinkles in their eyes as they told me about how they met in Arizona, their first dates and their proposal. Andrew was light-hearted as he shared how many times he tried to proposal but plans just didn’t work out. Until finally, he took Kenzie to Lake Tempe, arranged with friends to come to be a part of it and finally asked for her hand in marriage against a sea of Pokemon Goers. Kenzie squeezed his hand as he told me the story, glancing at him with an adoring smile.
Andrew and Kenzie then shared their Kirkland wedding day plans. They were going to have their ceremony in the backyard of Andrew’s childhood home, where his parents still reside. Andrew’s mom and dad had big plans for landscaping the backyard and making it perfect for an intimate wedding of their dreams. I could not wait.
There was such magic in the air. Kenzie was beaming as she slipped into her wedding dress, a vision in a white flowy tulle gown. Andrew’s sister and Kenzie’s sister, both bridesmaids, clutched their hands to their chest, holding back tears and emotion that this day had finally come. Kenzie’s mother beamed with love as Kenzie as she put on her earrings – heirloom pearl earrings of Kenzie’s great grandmother. Kenzie twirled around in her dress and silently squealed that it was finally time to go meet Andrew for their first look. As we started to gather things, Andrew’s mom stepped into the room and saw Kenzie in her full wedding day look. Surprised by this moment and Kenzie’s beauty, she too broke into tears as she placed her hand over her mouth. They embraced. Today, they would officially become family.
This love fest continued throughout the day. Andrew’s father and Kenzie’s father exchanged pounds as they sat down at the ceremony. Both sets of parents shared the stage as they delivered their toasts. Couples surrounded Kenzie and Andrew on the dance floor as they all marveled at the decades of love so many couples share. With a wedding like this, surrounded by this much love, there will only be even better days to add to their already full love story. Congrats Kenzie and Andrew! What a magical wedding day!
